JobKeeper wage condition deadline nears

Aug 28, 2020 | Government COVID-19 Stimulus, Payroll

The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) has issued a reminder to employers that only a few days remain for them to ensure all eligible employees, including those that have been newly nominated, are enrolled for JobKeeper.

Namely, for fortnights 10 and 11, the Australia Taxation Office (ATO) has allowed employers until 31 August 2020 to meet the wage condition for all new eligible employees included in the JobKeeper scheme under the tweaked 1 July eligibility test.

The recent change to the JobKeeper reference date from 1 March to 1 July 2020, effective from 3 August, has required employers to review the new eligibility criteria against all of their employees and meet the “one in, all in” condition.

There is no exception to the “one in, all in” rule. Employers must include all newly eligible employees as at 1 Jun, 2020.
